*these are my own personal opinions, and may not reflect every Ranma/Akane fan out there. This is just what I've gleaned from reading the manga, and 15+ years of being a Ranma fan.
They're supportive of one another
They're comfortable, on a physical & emotional level
Both get irrationally jealous of other people
They're attracted to each other
Both go to great lengths to protect the other
They are serious about the engagement
They're deeply in love, even if they can't admit it

Alright, so obviously it's no big secret that I am a HUGE Ranma-Akane supporter. (Just ask my boyfriend, who prefers Ukyo) *kicks him*. But some poor, misguided, or misinformed people (like said-boyfriend) may wonder why. To put it simply: I love everything about them. How they can go from fighting to shy and embarrassed in just a few moments. Or the fact that they've fallen in love with each other, despite themselves. Sure, the extent to which they deny their feelings can be frustrating sometimes, but it's actually those moments which make the times when they are getting along together, so memorable and so great!
I love how Ranma is always protecting Akane, despite her insistence that she can take care of herself. And how he can get sad, frustrated, or angry whenever another guy threatens to take her away from him. And of course I love how Akane is the exact same way...
I love how they both have many different suitors, and are constantly getting jealous because of it. Or the fact that whenever they are in trouble, they will silently be thinking the others name. And since they've both referred to each other as their fiancée during crucial moments, that just proves how they really feel about their engagement, and consequently, each other.
Despite all of their bickering, and denials, it's obvious that they truly love each other. And although they never actually admit it to each other, at least they've realized it on some level, even if they are too shy to say it out loud.
But that's good enough for me. ^_^
